Upholstery Toolkit - The Deluxe
Having spent many years researching the very best tools available, we’ve tried them all and we always come back to these.
This is the SDR Deluxe Upholstery Toolkit, you’ll use all these tools in our diploma classes and they should do you well through your whole career. If you’re joining us as a student, you can also buy these items individually while you’re at SDR.
The kit includes:
Draper hammer - a classic, well balanced, magnetic upholstery hammer
Mallet - made of beech, solid, essential
Web Stretcher - for that all important tension on the webbing
12” Regulator - who knew a metal pointy thing could be so useful, regulates your stuffing and so much more
Short blade scissors - a.k.a snips, these will be more handy than you can imagine, an investment in making your life easier
Pincers - tacks and staples are no match for these bad boys, these are a SDR special, modified by us
Staple Lifter - classic wooden handled tool
Ripping Chisel - a (furniture) stripper’s best friend
Tack lifter - gets tacks out, even the awkward ones
French skewers - imported from…France! Because they’re really good
Pins - not your average sewing pins, these are extra strong for upholstery
Needles - bayonet needle, buttoning needle, spring needle, slipping needle
Please note, these aren’t ALL the tools you’ll need for every job but this covers the main hand tools required to start your upholstery journey.
