Summer 2025 Upholstery Leisure Course: 4 days, Monday 28th - Thursday 31st July 2025 - £750
The total cost of the course is £750 including VAT, by booking online you secure your place with a £375 deposit. The remaining cost will be due 2 weeks before the start of the course. We will contact you directly about this.
Much like our other upholstery leisure courses, this is a ‘bring your own project’ format, a chance to work on a prized piece of furniture you’ve been meaning to fix up forever, or an opportunity to learn some upholstery skills on something new.
Over an intensive 4 days, our teachers are on hand to help students bring a beloved piece of furniture back to life. Whether you are a beginner looking for a thorough taster of the craft of upholstery, or you have some experience but looking for some extra pointers or to try a new technique!
You will be taught the tips and techniques of this amazing trade relevant to your project and get the chance to meet some like minded folk.
If you don’t have a piece of furniture in mind, we can help you to decide on or give advice on pieces that would be suitable. If you do have a piece in mind please send us pictures before booking so we can confirm suitability. We will also connect ahead of the class to ensure you have ordered fabric that you may need and build a plan to get the most out of your 4 day course.
Leisure classes can include the following:
Complete stripping down, and re-upholstery.
Just removing the top fabric and recovering.
Modern and traditional techniques.
Sewing such as box cushions, piping, capped on seats and arms, using an industrial walking foot machine.
Basic wood restoration including cleaning, reviving and finishing as well as small frame repairs
This course is a 4 days intensive class running Monday - Thursday from 9:30-16:30, with an hour for lunch,
Depending on the project complexity, you may need to be prepared to not completely finish during the 4 days. However, our tutors will give you tips and options to help you finish the project.
Our courses are run based on a minimum number of attendees, on the rare chance we do not gain enough people we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule and will notify you as soon as we possibly can. In the case that the course is cancelled by Shoreditch Design Rooms you will be refunded in full.
PLEASE READ: Materials are available at the school and are charged to you on a pay as you go basis. You will be able to store one piece of furniture at the school at a time, for the duration of the course.
